About the instructor:
Mika Sato of Mikafleur
Mika's hometown of Hiroshima, Japan is the original source of inspiration for her work. Back there, surrounded by the lush natural setting, Mika studied ikebana, the ancient Japanese art of flower arrangement that dates back to the seventh century. In 2010, she also decided to pursue her interest in pottery, and now Mikafleur is a winning combo of delicately hand-built and wheel-thrown pottery, and stunning floral elements.
Mika's inspiration from nature comes through in her careful selection of plants, sourced from both local farmers and her personal garden. Furthermore, Mika goes above and beyond by foraging for natural materials on her own, so that the rocks, moss, lichens and other dried elements that go into her creations are completely unique.
You can see more of Mika's creations on her website.
